Rwanda to expand treatment and vaccine efforts as part of World Hepatitis Day Celebrations

TThis year, the Ministry of Health in Rwanda is aiming to screen 250,000 people for HBV and HCV, as well as vaccinate 400,000 against HBV. The goal of this year’s campaign is to increase awareness among the Rwandan population regarding HBV and HCV, and the availability of services in the country, as well as increased access to preventive, diagnostic, treatment and care services for those in need. The acting director of the Viral Hepatitis and STI Unit at the Rwanda Biomedical Centre said that the screening and vaccination will take place in 30 district hospitals and 15 prison health dispensaries.
