Romania will treat 12,000 HCV patients in 2017-2018.

The Ministry of Health in Romania reported that 5,380 ≥F3 HCV patients were treated with DAAs in Romania in 2016. This was 380 more patients than their original estimate of 5,000. Negotiations with companies are underway but the government plans to treat 12,000 HCV patients between March 2017 – March 2018. Of these, 2,000 treatments are allocated to those ≥F4 and the remaining 10,000 will be available to patients with a fibrosis score of ≥F2.
