Polaris Observatory collaborates with US CDC in Tanzania and Uzbekistan

The Polaris Observatory and the US CDC are collaborating to quantify HCV and HBV disease burden in Tanzania and Uzbekistan. The work in Uzbekistan is also in collaboration with the WHO Euro regional office. The objective of the project is to estimate Hepatitis B and C prevalence and the corresponding morbidity and mortality between 2017 and 2030. In addition, the project will support the ministries of health and the liver institutes in each country to analyze the requirements to achieve hepatitis elimination in each country. “We are thrilled to be working with the US CDC, WHO Euro and the ministries of health. Our goal is to drive informed decision making leading to a robust national hepatitis strategy in each country,” says Homie Razavi, the managing director of the CDA Foundation.
