Hepatitis B continues to be a scourge in West African states

Despite the availability of a vaccine, Hepatitis B continues to be an infectious disease of concern, especially in West African states. Weak EPI program implementation across rural areas and persistent lack of birth dose immunization coverage are believed to contribute to this epidemic.
