Study planned on HIV, Hepatitis, and Syphilis in Tanzania

A national HIV/AIDS study will be carried out in Tanzania, which will include testing for Hepatitis and Syphilis. The national survey will involve more than 42,000 Tanzanians, of which 8,000 children aged 14 years and older will be tested across 26 regions in mainland Tanzania as well as five regions in Pemba and Unguja. The goal is to include all age groups from 16,000 households across the country. Research findings will be integral to informing the government of new infections and policy towards disease control. A team at Polaris Observatory will be working with CDC Tanzania and other experts in country to help analyze the HBV and HCV results.
